A Hucknall Youtuber who launched a channel based on the discussion of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and alleged extra-terrestrial activity on earth, has amassed a huge following in less than two years.

Jay, as he likes to be referred to in the public domain, founded Project Unity 18 months ago and now has over 12,000 subscribers to his channel.

Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News, he said: "It started off because in America, since 2017, the US government started addressing the UFO issue openly and there has been a series of statements and press releases.

"The US Navy has actually acknowledged and released some video footage captured by F18s that are showing unknown objects in the sky and The Pentagon has actually officially released press statements saying that they don't know what these things are, and that they're officially investigating.

"They've actually created what's called a UAP task force. They're calling it Unidentified Aerial Phenomena instead of Unidentified Flying Objects, they've kind of changed the nomenclature.

"I got interested in that because of the fact that the US government were starting to address it in a serious way. I started making small videos and uploading little clips from American news and stuff like that, so it all started off very basic, just not knowing what direction to go in. But over the past year and a half I've got more connected with people, spoken with numerous people within the United States intelligence community and high level journalists.

"Within the past year my platform has spread and become more well known so that's pretty much my focus now."

Jay has amassed enough of a following that he makes a living out of his channel and it is now his day job.

Of his success, he said: "It was never the goal to make this into a career but it's transitioned into something where I can sustain myself. It's been a gradual thing. I've been a man of many hats but this feels like the place where my skillset is being utilised the best way; I like working for myself, that's a fun thing."

After studying at university in London, Jay moved to Hucknall after one of his friends got a job in the town and moved to the area. Jay had little hesitation in relocating and now runs his platform from his home in Hucknall.

Jay describes his audience as having a "vastly American demographic." He now wants to build a strong British and European following as he feels it's an area that hasn't been explored in as much depth in other countries as it has in the States. He is keen to be the person who starts and facilitates that topic of conversation around the rest of the world.

"There is a British contingent that is involved and there are British researchers that I'm involved with but it is primarily an American discussion right now. Most people assume that when something like this gets acknowledged it becomes global news and everyone's suddenly like stop the headlines UFOs exist, not the case. Most mainstream European media hasn't picked up on this.

"It's amazing how the conversation has been isolated into the States for something that could potentially be so lifechanging for humanity in terms of our perspective of where we are in the universe. It's been silenced and pretty much not spoken about by the rest of the media."

Jay has now turned his attention to making his very first long format documentary project which he plans to release soon. He hopes it will provide a contrast to the discussion and interview style content that he regularly produces and uploads normally at least once a week.

"It's a very important technological, philosophical conversation that's happening right now and it could genuinely have a lot of knock-on effects for how we view our place in the world, so I think that it's important that the discourse that comes of that is sensible and intellectually stimulated discourse."
