A half term petting zoo in Hucknall has been cancelled by Ashfield District Council as yellow weather warnings have been issued across England.
The free event, which was due to take place in Hucknall Market Place tomorrow (February 15), has been postponed until the easter holidays.
Animals including chickens, ducks, ponies, alpacas and pigmy goats were due to be brought into the town from Willow Tree Farm.
Similar events in Sutton and Kirkby this week have also be cancelled.
A district council spokesperson said: "Due to the high winds forecast for this week we have made the decision to postpone the petting zoo events planned for this week in Hucknall, Sutton and Kirkby.
"With winds of up to 50 mph forecast, to ensure the safety of residents, staff and animal welfare we have had to make this difficult decision.
"We know you will be as disappointed as we are and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
"The events will be rearranged for the Easter holidays and we'll share the new dates will you in the next few weeks."
The Met Office has issued amber and yellow warnings for Scotland and northern England from Wednesday due to Storm Eunice.
The whole of England has received a yellow weather warning due to high winds on Friday with gusts of up to 80mph forecast.
The Met Office said: "There is a small chance that flying debris will result in a danger to life, with fallen trees, damage to buildings and homes, roofs blown off and power lines brought down.
"Where damaging winds occur, there is a chance that long interruptions to power supplies and other services may occur."
