The BIG Ashfield Spring Clean is once again coming to the local area, the District Council has confirmed.

Residents are invited to dispose of an extra bag of household waste and take advantage of Flying Skips across the District. The BIG Spring Clean will run in Hucknall during the week commencing Saturday 26 March.

During that week, a bag of extra waste can be put out with your regular bin collection.

Residents can also take advantage of Flying Skips (bin lorries) out touring the District. They give people the chance to dispose of excess waste and small bulky items.

Councillor Jason Zadrozny, Leader of Ashfield District Council said: "The Spring Clean will give residents the opportunity to get rid of extra waste by leaving out an extra bag of waste with your bin collection, or by taking advantage of one of the many Flying Skips across the District. If you can get your waste to us, we'll collect it."

The Council is also changing the way it offers free bulky waste collections. It is now offering one free bulky waste collection of up to three items for all residents, with the opportunity to use the service throughout the year.

Councillor Samantha Deakin, Portfolio Holder for Parks, Town Centres and Neighbourhood Services said: "Rather than just being able to book a free bulky waste collection during the Spring Clean, residents can book a free collection based on where they live. The free service will be offered on a month by month basis.

"You now have four opportunities to access a free collection during the year. This allows residents to use their free collection when they want it, rather than saving bulky waste to dispose of during the Spring Clean."

The months that the free bulky waste collection can be taken from Hucknall are May, August and November this year, as well as February next year.

Councillor Deakin continued: "We want as many residents as possible to get involved in the Spring Clean. We will continue to share more details on social media and our website, and full details can be found in the latest edition of Ashfield Matters magazine."

Throughout the BIG Spring Clean local community groups, schools and volunteers will be out litter picking across the District's town centres and green spaces.
