Hucknall will remain in the constituency of Sherwood under proposals published today by the Boundary Commission for England.

The plans are now in an eight week consultation period in which people are invited to give their views on the proposals. This feedback will be published and a secondary consultation process will begin early next year before the final report and recommendations are submitted and published in the summer of 2023.

The changes are being made to ensure that all constituencies have similar size populations.

Conservative, Mark Spencer is the current MP for Sherwood having been in office since 2010. He was made Chief Whip by Prime Minister Boris Johnson in 2019.

The key tweaks to Sherwood will happen in the South East of the constituency with the village of Lambley, where Spencer went to primary school, becoming part of Gedling constituency.

Meanwhile villages such as Gunthorpe,Thurgarton, Lowdham, Epperstone, Hoveringham and Caythorpe would become part of Sherwood instead of Newark. These changes would see the population of the constituency increase by just over 4500.

Crucially, however, the West border of the constituency remains the same as before meaning Hucknall is unaffected by the changes.

Hucknall has been in Sherwood since the constituency was formed in 1983.
