A woman whose missing dog was found in Hucknall, has thanked the local community for their support and help in reuniting them.

Lauren Roth, from Bulwell, lost Porsche her Patterdale Terrier on Saturday (29 January) afternoon when she escaped out of the front door.

Ms Roth initially searched the neighbouring streets but when there was no sign of Porsche, she took the advice of her family and issued an appeal on social media.

Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News, she said: "At this point your heart's ripped out really and I don't think until you actually lose your dog (you understand how it feels), some people would be like it's just a dog but it's not just a dog it's part of your family.

"It wasn't until family members were like post it on social media, which I did, that's when I got a huge response.

"It's the last thing in the back of your mind, you're just thinking at the end of the day you need to get your dog back, so your dog doesn't get hurt."

Lauren's post quickly gained traction and ended up being shared into Hucknall community groups. There were soon reported sightings of Porsche in the town, as well as in Newstead.

Despite Lauren and her partner following up various sightings and conducting their own searches, they still hadn't located Porsche by Sunday evening (30 January). Lauren admitted to barely sleeping during the entire time Porsche was missing.

"We were out long hours, looking for her. It just got to the point, where you're thinking do you give up hope but you have to continue because it's your family member at the end of the day."

Then, around midday yesterday (Monday 31 January), following more rumours that Porsche had been seen in Hucknall, Lauren got a call from a lady saying they'd found Porsche. She was on the housing estate behind The Bowman pub on Nottingham Road.

Lauren's partner immediately drove down there and saw that it was indeed Porsche. Perhaps, overwhelmed by the ordeal Porsche didn't recognise Lauren's partner from a distance and ran off.

However, she recognised the family car and waited next to it before running towards Lauren's partner when he got closer to her.

Porsche has settled back into her home well and was happily playing with her toys when Hucknall Nub News spoke to Lauren.

Of the support of the people in Hucknall and across social media platforms in general, Lauren said: "They've been absolutely amazing. The people that's helped, I've had so many people messaging me, ringing me. I've had specialist people from drone companies, charities.

"The response from people on social media, I cannot thank everyone enough for what they've done to obviously get my dog home."
