Updated: Ashfield District Council appealing for help from Hucknall residents to locate defibrillator missing from Titchfield Park
Update: The defib has been located.
Ashfield District Council has appealed to Hucknall residents to help them locate the Titchfield Park defibrillator which has gone missing.
There is no sign of theft or criminal damage and the council believe that someone may have simply forgotten to return it after use.
Posting on Facebook, the council said: "The defibrillator on Titchfield Park, Hucknall is missing.
"There isn't any damage to the secure box it is stored in so we don't believe it has been stolen. It is likely that someone used the defib but then didn't know how to return it or forgot to replace it.
"The police and ambulance service can't identify the exact day or time that it was accessed.
If you have any information regarding the missing defib please contact us via direct message or call 01623 551385."
According to figures published in January 2020 by London Ambulance Service, when a Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) was used by a bystander, and at least one shock was delivered to patients, the survival rate was more than five times higher (57.1 per cent).
As a result, it is increasingly common to see them located in public places and outside businesses to be used in the case of an emergency.
