Ashfield Film Festival to be held in Hucknall next week

­Ashfield District Council, in partnership with Arc Cinema, is putting on the first ever Ashfield Film Festival in Hucknall next week.

The four-day event, which will take place from Thursday 8 September until Sunday 11 September will be hosted in The Arc cinema which is on Hucknall High Street.

The film festival includes screenings of over 18 different films with three free films, special fan events, a pyjama party, and sing-a-longs.

The event kicks off on the Thursday with two free showings of The Littlest Rebel, which was the first film ever shown in the cinema when it first opened as The Byron Cinema in November 1936. 

Councillor Lee Waters, who represents Hucknall North for the Ashfield Independents, said: "We are so excited to be able to bring this first ever Ashfield Film Festival to Hucknall. The Council has provided excellent events this summer and I'm sure this one will also be fantastic. Thank you to The Arc Cinema for agreeing to host this event for Ashfield's film fanatics!"   

The full list of films being shown are as follows:

Thursday 8 September

  • 3pm & 6.40pm – The Littlest Rebel (free event)
  • 7.30pm – Shiftr Cycling Magazine presents four cycling films (free event)
  • 8pm – Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

Friday 9 September

All tickets for any film will be £5 for Ashfield residents

Saturday 10 September

Disney Pyjama Party with mascots

  • 4.30pm – The Little Mermaid
  • 5pm – Frozen
  • 5.30pm – Encanto
  • 6pm – Moana

For action and sci fi fans

  • 6.30pm – Top Gun double bill
  • 7pm – Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (fan event)

Sunday 11 September

Sing-a-long Sunday

  • 1.30pm – Wizard of Oz
  • 1.30pm – Mamma Mia
  • 1.30pm – Grease
  • 1.30pm – The Greatest Showman (free event)

For classic film fans

  • 3.30pm – E.T
  • 3.30pm – Back to the Future trilogy (fan event)

-       3.30pm – Part I

-       5.30pm – Part II

-       7.30pm – Part III
