A charity fire walk that took place in Hucknall last night (Thursday 16 June) has been hailed as their most successful event ever by organisers 'Muted'.
The mental health charity staged the event at Hucknall Town Football Club on Watnall Road and it attracted over 150 spectators to watch 30 participants, most of whom either live or work in Hucknall, take the challenge, including local councillor Lee Waters.
Ian Hastings, from the charity 'Muted' thanked Hucknall residents and businesses for their backing as the event looks set to have raised thousands for the local charity.
He said, "This was our most successful fire walk so far. We'd like to thank the Hucknall community for getting behind us in huge numbers. It is truly inspiring for the charity to receive so much support at such a tough time for so many people. Our focus is on a subject that so many remain reluctant to talk about – so we're pleased to raise awareness of mental health issues.
"We'd like to thank everyone that took part and supported us. We'd like to say a huge thanks to Councillor Lee Waters from Nottinghamshire County Council, Barrett Homes, L'Oreal, ITP Aero, Fidelius and of course, Hucknall Town Football Club. It's literally amazing that so much positivity and support can be generated when a community joins together to help those in need."
As aforementioned Councillor Lee Waters was one of the brave Hucknall residents who walked the fiery walk. The Ashfield Independent Councillor for Hucknall said: "What an amazing night. What an amazing charity. I've got to admit, I was really nervous. We were showed that it is mind over matter. That is the ethos of 'Muted' – who do so much to help those suffering from mental health. It was great to see so many people from Hucknall supporting a brilliant night."
