A charity football match which will raise money for 'Our Dementia Choir' is to be held in Hucknall next month.

Papplewick Allstars will take on Eastwood and Kimberley All Stars at Rolls Royce just off Watnall Road in Hucknall on the evening of Friday 4 November.

Tickets are available online via Eventbrite and cost £8.14 each which includes a small admission fee. The match will kick off at 7:45pm.

The Papplewick side will be managed by Hucknall businessman Ben Marshall, who earlier this year, along with a group of friends, was behind the organisation of collecting as many thermal sleeping bags and blankets as possible for Ukrainian refugees arriving in Poland.

Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News about the football match, he said: "We were asked if we could field a team for a charity match and that sounded like a great opportunity to get the lads together and raise some money for a great cause.

"The Dementia Choir is incredible, and a couple of the lads have got family connections with it so everyone is keen to raise as much as possible.

"Anyone that knows football will know that there's no such thing as a 'friendly' and that we'll be playing to win but above all, it's about having a laugh and raising some funds for this incredible organisation."

The choir was first formed by Nottingham born actress Vicky McClure as part of a BBC documentary in 2019 to demonstrate the impact music has on people with dementia.
