This week's event of the week is the charity fundraiser for YMCA Adventure Guides which is being held at Hucknall Town's football ground, on Watnall Road this Sunday (29 August). The event starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm.

There are a wide range of activities, attractions and refreshments on offer including inflatables, trampolines, a bouncy castle, glitter tattoos, body arts, handmade crafts, candy floss, popcorn, ice cream and much more.

Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News, Leann Scott, one of the organisers, said: "The main reason for the event is to raise money for the YMCA Adventure Guides. The Adventure Guides organises day trips, weekends out, originally it started for military families, then single parents, then families on low income, now it's open to everybody in the Nottinghamshire area.

"We've been part of them for five years now. And it's quite a social type thing. There's quite a supportive network there that's helped us through some quite tough times. They need some equipment, they did have lottery funding before, that stopped, so they need some equipment, haven't got the funds to get it, so we offered to try and raise the money for it."

The aim is to raise £1500 to help the Adventure Guides buy equipment such as gazebos and generators that they have to keep renting when organising activities and events. In the long run, owning these sort of items would help the group to save a significant amount of money.

Mrs Scott said: "We'll be walking round with donation buckets, so people feel free to donate, obviously we'd really appreciate that."

Nearly 60 raffle prizes have been donated with many local businesses giving generously. Mrs Scott added: "We're grateful for everything people have been able to donate."
