The founder of a local not for profit organisation which runs weight loss, body confidence and wellbeing support groups in Hucknall has launched a third group and is on the lookout for new members.

Theresa Gandy, who began 'Your Time' one year ago, in September 2021, has started a new weekly session which is held at Hucknall Leisure Centre in the health and wellbeing hub upstairs on Thursday mornings from 10:30. Attendees do not need to be members of the leisure centre to access the group.

This follows the success of her two other groups held at St John's Church Hall on Nottingham Road on Thursday evenings and at John Godber Centre on Ogle Street on Friday mornings. These two meetings have 15 regular attendees each.

It costs £3.75 a week to attend but once the company's overheads have been covered, such as rent, the rest of the money is donated to Hucknall food bank on Vine Terrace. In their first year 'Your Time' donated £600 in total to the cause.

Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News about the organisation's success, Ms Gandy said: "The change in the ladies is phenomenal. Although you want to see a difference in your size, the scales aren't the main feature, and the changes in the ladies' mindsets and the narratives they tell themselves to get out of the dieting mentality is absolutely phenomenal; it's amazing to see actually. They've still lost over 42 stone in that year between the two groups. So being in a good mindset proves you will live a happier life and still lose weight.

"You've got to do things that are sustainable and if you're feeling guilty and beating yourself up all the time, that's not a sustainable thing, you just feel the guilt which leads to remorse which usually leads to having a glass of wine or packet of biscuits or whatever because that's what you've always done and then you start another diet."

For anyone wanting to know more about 'Your Time' Ms Gandy is hosting a drop-in session at Watnall Road Baptist Church on Monday 10 October from 10am until 12pm.

She added: "I'm just having a cuppa and a chat so people can find out more about it before they actually commit to joining a group, so if they're feeling a bit unsure they can come and chat to me there with no pressure to join just to come and see if it's for them or not. It's about changing your life rather than going on a diet. It's about living a sustainable life."

Further information about 'Your Time' can be found on the organisation's Facebook page.
