A motorist was caught exceeding the speed limit by nearly 20mph yesterday by the Hucknall Beat Team.

The officers were out and about the town conducting a Fatal 4 OP. This consists of looking for motorists who are: speeding; driving whilst using their mobile phone; not wearing their seatbelts; or driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs.

During the day, the police went to Farleys Lane, Torkard Way, Moor Road and Waterloo Road.

It was on Moor Road, a 30mph zone, that the officers caught a motorist driving at 48mph.

This was the only transgression that the police encountered and they took to social media to praise and thank the people of Hucknall.

"We are happy to report that only one speedy motorist was caught driving over the speed limit which was 48mph in a 30mph zone on Moor Road so a big thank you to the public for keeping themselves and their community safe."

The police will be conducting other similar operations in the near future and have asked people to email them on [email protected] if they have suggestions of roads in Hucknall they think should be monitored next time.
