A Hucknall brewery are looking to move their business to the next level by exporting their beer abroad.

Lincoln Green Brewery based on Wigwam Lane currently sell the majority of their beer locally.

A number of Nottinghamshire Co-Op stores stock and sell bottles of their beer thanks to a partnership they have forged together.

The brewery also provides the five pubs they operate in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, including The Station Hotel in Hucknall, with beer. As well as this, they sell beer at the shop on site on Wigwam Lane.

This means that whilst they are successful locally, their products are not readily available outside of the East Midlands.

With the restrictions removed following the Covid Pandemic, Lincoln Green founder Anthony Hughes is keen for them to tap into markets they had previously not been involved in.

The brewery recently sent samples of their Hood Best Bitter across to Finland as there is an emerging market for English beer over there.

The tasting panel in Finland, made up of around 20 people, liked Hood so much that they ranked it above Fuller's London Pride which is currently the most popular English beer in the country.

Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News, Mr Hughes said: "It could be a very big market for us. I think the other thing that's really interesting about the Finnish was the feedback from the tasting panel, because they genuinely liked the fact that they could see the association with Robin Hood.

"Whereas in Nottinghamshire I think we're a bit blasé about the legend of Robin Hood, we don't really think too much about him but on a world stage he's a really big character and very good for the local economy.

"I think the exports side of stuff, it would be the first time that we've ever done it, and it would be extremely exciting for us to think that our beers are actually not just available in Nottinghamshire but are actually also available across the world, so fingers crossed that we get some orders placed fairly soon."
