2nd Dec 2021 | Local News

Hucknall Christmas Festival takes place tonight (Wednesday 1 December) in the town centre between 4pm and 8pm.

Here at Hucknall Nub News we know lots of our readers are excited about the festivities and will be planning to go along.

We've put together a simple guide to the event and a few tips on how to make the most out of the festival.

Road closures and parking

Baker Street will be closed from 12pm until 10pm. There will be no parking available on the market car park as that is where the majority of the festival will be set up. However, parking is available at Piggins Croft Car Park and Yorke Street Car Park. Both car parks offer two hours of free parking (you still need to display a ticket) and there is no charge for parking there after six, meaning if you park just after four and get a two hour ticket, you can park there for the whole duration of the festival for free. Main event

The Christmas lights switch on will take place at 7pm with Chairman of Ashfield District Council, Councillor Arnie Hankin doing the honours.

Other entertainment

There will be a performance from a group of dancers who attend Sarah Adamson School of Dancing, which is based in Hucknall. Phase One Dance group will also perform later in the event. Students from the Flying High Academy, just off Watnall Road, will perform a selection of Christmas songs. Just before the lights are switched on there will be performances from vocalist Cassie, followed by a Michael Buble tribute from Councillor Phil Rostance. As well as all this there will be a funfair which is bound to entertain the children. The event promises to be the perfect way to get into the spirit of Christmas and is expected to be well attended after last year's event was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
