Hucknall South County Councillor Lee Waters has launched a petition to get a residents only parking scheme in place in a busy part of the town.
The area concerned is around Beardall Street, Park View, Grainger Terrace, Henry Street and Ellis Avenue in Hucknall.
This move comes after Councillor Waters received numerous complaints from residents about parking issues. The main complaint was about staff and customers at PJ Lilley – a Hucknall-based construction company.
Now he is writing to all local residents asking them to sign a petition if they approve of a residents only parking scheme.
Councillor Waters will then present the petition to the Chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council at a Full Meeting in March.
He said: "It's a balancing act in around Beardall Street and the surrounding streets in Hucknall. Residents have complained about their streets being turned into a car park for Lilley's staff and customers.
"I have been inundated with complaints from local residents, held a meeting on Beardall Street with senior transport bosses from County Hall, and my team have been in touch with Lilley's. The problem is getting worse not better however and I now think a residents only parking scheme is the only option.
"That said, it costs money but enough residents tell me they want residents only parking – I will push this at the highest level."
The paper only petition is being delivered to local residents this afternoon.
