A crew from Hucknall Fire Station were in attendance at a huge waste fire at Colwick Industrial Estate this morning (Friday 15 April).

Emergency services were first called to the scene at 8:35am where 20 tonnes of waste paper were reportedly on fire at the Biffa waste centre.

Crews from Carlton, London Road, Arnold, Highfields and Edwinstowe fire stations were first on the scene before being joined by crews from Hucknall and Collingham, as well as the High Volume Pump from Ashfield and the Water Carrier from Worksop Fire Station.

Whilst the fire was being extinguished people were asked to avoid Colwick Industrial Estate by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. Local residents were also advised to keep doors and windows closed.

At 2:00pm the service tweeted: "The fire is now extinguished. Crews will remain at the scene to monitor throughout the afternoon. Thank you to nearby businesses and residents for your understanding today. Have a safe Easter Bank Holiday weekend."
