A Hucknall resident and his partner have developed their own cycling website to tackle the 'great swathes of people not being included' in the community.

Nick Archer and Charlotte Hartwell have launched 'Shiftr' today (Monday 6 December).

The idea came to the pair, who are massively into cycling, after Nick, couldn't find a grassroots cycling magazine to contribute articles to.

He said: "I couldn't find the right sort of thing that had the same sort of ethics, ideology and demographic really that I was looking for."

They are keen to cater for those interested in cycling who they feel are often overlooked such as women or members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Nick said: "It's giving the voice to people who don't have voices, actively promoting those having adventures on their bike despite obstacles in their way so it's about the everyday cyclist, people who do it for fun, people who do it for transport.

"It's not just about current affairs and cycling news it's about real stories from real people because our writers are actual cyclists."

The aim is for the website to feature a couple of articles a week from lots of contributors on a range of topics such bikepacking and building your own bike.

The couple are also currently editing the first edition of Shiftr magazine, which will be both in digital and paper format, and will be available to purchase in January.
