A Hucknall micro pub is opening its doors for a 'community chat' morning once a month starting in December.
Byron's Rest on Baker Street will be offering free tea and coffee from 10am until 1pm on Friday 3 December for people who are lonely or who just fancy a break from routine.
Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News, Byron's Rest owner Richard Darrington said: "We tend to do a lot for the people of the town. I just think if we can do it once a month during the winter months when predominantly a lot of people do suffer with a bit of winter depression, that's the key, if we can just get them out the house for a few hours. We do a pickup service as well for those who can't get.
"We're community based anyway so it's not about selling alcohol it's about giving a bit of something back. I don't want to take trade away from anywhere else and I don't think it will. We'll just use it as a bit of a community meeting hub."
Mr Darrington took to his company's Facebook page this morning to advertise the idea and as a result has already had some messages from people expressing interest in coming along to the first meeting. Other local businesses have also been in touch to ask if they can help by providing biscuits.
