A Hucknall micropub has been included in the Campaign for Real Ale's (CAMRA) 'Good Beer Guide' for the fourth year in a row.

Byron's Rest on Baker Street is the only venue in Hucknall listed in the Guide which is put together based on the public's rating of pubs they attend.

As a result, it reviews over 4,500 pubs across the UK, and is viewed as the definitive beer drinkers' guide to the very best pints in a variety of styles of pubs to suit individual tastes. Compiled by thousands of independent volunteers, it helps identify significant trends and themes locally and nationally.

Speaking to Hucknall Nub News, about Byron's Rest featuring once again, owner Richard Darrington said: "It's a big achievement, it's probably the Bible of real ale, it's the ultimate one to have because it's been voted for annually consistently doing what we're supposed to do, and it's voted for by the public. It's an honour to be in there, we're very privileged. I think that's the difficult bit, it's ok getting in there the first time but it's staying in there that's the task, it keeps us on our toes."

CAMRA National Chairman Nik Antona says: "For nearly five decades, the 'Good Beer Guide' has been a comprehensive guide to the UK's breweries, their ales, and the best outlets to find them in across the country.

"The 'Good Beer Guide' has always had an important role in acting as a barometer of the beer and pub industry. We believe information gleaned from the Guide is absolutely vital in the drive to save our pubs from closure and campaign for policies that better support pubs, local brewers and their customers.

"Whilst we experienced a boom in the brewing industry over recent years, it's clear that the effects of COVID-19 and subsequent cost of living and cost of goods crisis has been keenly felt. I'd encourage everyone to use this Guide to seek out the very best examples of pub excellence and support these locals by visiting them."

In total, Nottingham's CAMRA branch suggested over 30 pubs for inclusion in 'The Good Beer Guide'. Other pubs close to Hucknall that have made it into the Guide include Roots Emporium in Kimberley, Tap & Growler in Eastwood, and Gamekeeper's also in Eastwood.
