The County Hall offices of Nottinghamshire County Council will be illuminated green this week (20 – 26 September) to mark the annual national Recycle Week, now in its 18th year. This will mark the first time that the building has been lit up in this way.
Councillor Neil Clarke MBE, Chairman of Transport and Environment Committee said: "I'm proud that the first time County Hall will be illuminated will be to show our support for Recycle Week and thank residents for their recycling efforts to date.
"We know Nottinghamshire residents are keen to do their bit, and lighting up the building green for Recycle Week will be a powerful reminder to think about what else we can do to reduce, reuse and recycle more and decrease our impact on the environment.
"As an organisation we are committed to taking action on climate change and supporting our residents to recycle right. So, let's all work together to save our environment."
Last month the County Council, in partnership with Veolia, launched its Go Green for September campaign to link in with Recycle Week. This is designed to help raise awareness of the importance of recycling right as well as to encourage residents to take on a 30 day challenge to carry out small actions that can make big differences in the fight against climate change.
It's not too late to get involved with the challenge and receive a daily dose of green goodness direct to your inbox, find out more and sign up here .
