Ashfield District Council is offering residents from Hucknall and across the district a chance to win a £50 voucher as part of a "Love Your Leisure Centres competition".

The Council are inviting residents of all ages to describe what they love about Ashfield's three leisure centres. This can be in the form of poems, drawings, short stories, or pictures that sum up why people love their local leisure centre.

The three leisure centres included in this competition are: Hucknall Leisure Centre; Kirkby Leisure Centre; and Lammas Leisure Centre in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

The competition is open to three age categories to give residents of all ages a chance to get involved. These are: age 11 and under; 12-17 years old; and 18 and over. Four winners from each category will each win a £50 'Everyone Active' voucher which can be redeemed in one of the three leisure centres.

Councillor Rachel Madden, Executive Lead Member for Leisure, Health and Wellbeing said: "With the recent completion of the new Kirkby Leisure Centre, this is the perfect time to come together as a community to share what we love about our leisure centres. Get creative and share some positive examples of why the centres mean so much (to) you."

Leader of the Council, Councillor Jason Zadrozny said: "The opening of Kirkby Leisure Centre marked the first time Kirkby has seen significant regeneration in its leisure facilities since the years after World War Two when the Festival Hall was repurposed from a livestock market into a community hall. It served the people of Kirkby and surrounding areas ever since. Whether you loved it or not, it has been a steadfast constant for many residents over the years and we want to celebrate the passing of the torch."

Full details of the competition can be found on Ashfield District Council's website by clicking here.

The competition closes at midnight on Sunday 30 October.
