Residents from Hucknall and across the district are being invited to take part in the Discover Ashfield Photography Competition which is back for the fourth year.

The competition, organised by Ashfield District Council, is open to locals of all ages to get out and take some fantastic photographs of Ashfield.

This year there are three categories: Place, People and Under 16s; a winner will be chosen for each category.

Suggested ideas for the subject of images include people at work or enjoying Ashfield's parks, town centres and green spaces, interesting buildings, town centres, and streets across the district.

The competition opened last Thursday (16 June) and closes at midnight on Sunday 31 July 2022. The winner of each category will receive a £100 High Street voucher.

The place category gives entrants an opportunity to show off some of the fantastic spaces in the district such as the award winning parks, and green spaces or the unusual architecture in some of the town centres.

The people category could involve showing what someone does at work, or volunteering, enjoying the natural landscape, or simply shopping at one of the many small businesses in Ashfield.

The under 16s category gives the many talented young people in Ashfield a chance to show how they view the district.

The rules state that each person can enter a maximum of three photographs into the competition but only one entry per category, each with a maximum file size of 2MB.

Each image file should be saved with the name of the entrant.

Under 16s can enter but the organisers will need a parent or guardian's name.

Prospective entrants are advised to read the full terms and conditions, and our competition privacy notice, before submitting an entry.

Judging will take place in the days after the closing date and winners will be notified in the week commencing 15 August 2022.
