Hucknall Town Football Club has confirmed this morning that it will be moving grounds.

The move has taken 15 years to come to fruition but later this year The Yellows will leave Watnall Road, their home since 1943.

They will instead play their home matches at a brand new purpose built home just across the road on Aerial Way. The ground is already under construction and work is expected to be completed in September, with the hope that the majority of the club's fixtures during the 2022/23 campaign will be played there.

Consisting of two floodlit pitches and a clubhouse the facility will also be home to the Yellows youth set up Hucknall Warriors who run youth teams for the local community ranging from 6 - 17-year-olds.

In a statement on the club's website, Chairman Bob Scotney said: "This is a very exciting time for both the club and the Town. Football is at the heart of the community and after a very long protracted period we are finally on the move to a brand new facility. This facility will vastly improve the experience for both our loyal and new supporters as well as others who use the clubhouse for various functions."

Andy Graves, first team Manager was also enthusiastic about what's ahead. He said: "We have had some memorable moments at Watnall Road and it will be remembered with fondness I am sure, by all current and ex-players as well as supporters. We have a fantastic support base and this is exactly what they deserve, a new facility which they can enjoy for years to come."

The club has confirmed it will keep supporters up to date with news on the move via its website and social media pages over the coming weeks and months.

On the pitch, The Yellows conclude their league campaign tomorrow (Saturday 23 April) with a home game against Kirby Muxloe knowing a win will guarantee them a play-off place in the Uhlsport United Counties Division One, the tenth tier in the football pyramid.
