Hucknall Town manager Andy Graves was relieved that his side were able to take advantage of an early sending off for their opponents Graham Street Prims to run out 5-2 winners at Watnall Road on Saturday (11 December).

Goals from Craig Westcarr, Louis Kinnerley, Aaron Lamb, Jordan Phillips and Joe Ashurst helped Hucknall secure all three points and they now sit sixth in the league table, just three points adrift of the playoff places.

Speaking to the club's website after the game, Graves said: "I said before that they were going to be a tough team to break down.

"We didn't play the ten men very well in the first 20 minutes after the sending off to be honest, we were forcing it rather than playing around them, which I said at half-time.

"We gave a silly goal away, but that kickstarted us to play our better football."

"It doesn't always work in your favour, having a numerical advantage. I was hoping it wouldn't go the same way as the Saffron Dynamo game.

"But it shows if you switch off, you'll get punished. And to be fair, they only had about three chances and they took two of them.

"We hit the bar, had three cleared off the line, and the scoreline makes it look comfortable, but you still have to earn your right in these games. Nobody's going to just roll over."
