Hucknall Town have completed the signing of forward Craig Westcarr for the forthcoming season.

He becomes Town's first summer signing following two pre-season appearances last week.

Westcarr came through Nottingham Forest's academy and in 2001, became the youngest player to ever play for their first team when at the age of 16, he made a late substitute appearance at The City Ground in a League game against Burnley. This is a record that still stands today.

He would remain at the club until 2005 but would make less than 30 appearances and have two short loan spells at lower league sides Lincoln City and MK Dons during his final season. He was released following Forest's relegation from the Championship.

Westcarr dropped into non-league football but successful spells at Cambridge United and Kettering Town, saw him sign for Notts County at the beginning of the 09/10 season.

He was a key part of the side that won promotion to League One, playing nearly every game and chipping in with nine league goals.

After two full seasons at Meadow Lane, he moved to Chesterfield where he helped them to victory in the Football League Trophy.

Spells at Walsall, Portsmouth and Mansfield Town followed before in 2016 he moved back into non-league football.

Since then, a prolific couple of years at Alfreton were a highlight where he averaged a goal every three games as well as spells at Matlock Town and Grantham Town.

Speaking in an interview published on Hucknall Town's website, Westcarr said: "I'm really pleased to have signed for the club. I spoke to the manager and he outlined where the club want to go, and I know a few of the players so it was an easy decision to be honest.

"Coming to Hucknall felt right and the manager's ambition matched mine so it was a bit of a no-brainer.

"I've played against Hucknall two or three times in the past and it's clear that the club have got a really solid fanbase, so I'm excited to play in front of the supporters."

Manager Andy Graves added: "We're thrilled to welcome Craig to the club. It's great to be able to have a player in the squad who has such an excellent background in the game and he still has a lot to offer.

"He's got great feet and he makes everything look effortless. He's also a really top guy and he's fitted in really well with the lads already.

"We're really hopeful that he can play a big role for us and his experience should be invaluable."
