The Nottingham Tram network will be running a Sunday service over the next two days (Wednesday 29 December and Thursday 30 December) due to staff shortages.

NET who run the network made the announcement on their Twitter page yesterday evening (Tuesday 28 December).

They posted: "We are really sorry... Due to a crew shortage, we'll be running a Sunday service tomorrow and Thursday (29th - 30th)."

It has been a somewhat tumultuous time of late for NET with the Covid pandemic taking its toll and seeing a reduced number of people using the network largely due to being repeatedly advised to work from home.

There has also been an ongoing pay dispute with workers who are members of the GMB union. This led to strike action in November which meant that the trams were unable to run for 24 hours.

The network also suffered from staffing issues earlier in the year when a number of workers were forced to isolate in line with Government guidance following contact with someone who had tested positive with Coronavirus.

There has been no confirmation as to whether or not the current staffing problems are Covid related or not.
