Tram passengers travelling between Hucknall and Nottingham city centre are being advised to leave extra time for their journeys when essential track replacement work around the Hyson Green tram stop begins later this month.

Between Wednesday 27 July, and Sunday 7 August, trams will be unable to operate between Wilkinson Street and The Forest although a replacement bus service between the two stops will enable customers to complete their journeys

Trevor Stocker, NET Head of Operations, said: "Some sections of track have been in operation since the network was opened 18 years ago and are now due for replacement. This work is being done as part of our scheduled maintenance programme which aims to ensure customers continue to enjoy a safe and comfortable journey.

"Throughout the project, including during preparatory works from July 17, measures will be put in place to minimise noise and disruption for local residents and businesses."

Access for road users and pedestrians along Terrace Street will also be maintained throughout the day, although some road diversions may be put in place on some nights to allow access for delivery vehicles.

While replacement buses will be in operation between Wilkinson Street and The Forest, tram services will run across the rest of the network to an amended timetable.

This will mean journeys may take a little longer than usual, so it is advisable that passengers take this into consideration when planning their journeys.

Further service updates can be found by clicking here or viewing NET's social media channels.

"The work has been scheduled for what is traditionally one of the quietest times of the year for the network, but we would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience and thank both customers and the local community for their patience and understanding," Trevor added.
