Hucknall tram passengers urged to wear masks following revised Government Covid rules

Hucknall tram passengers are being urged, by NET who operates Nottingham's tram network, to comply with Government guidance by wearing masks when they travel.

The Government have once again made face coverings mandatory for people aged 12 or over who aren't medically exempt, when travelling on public transport or when in shops.

This was prompted by the emergence of a new variant of Coronavirus, the Omicron variant, which is believed to have originated in South Africa.

The guidance came into force in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday 30 November).

The statement from NET said: "Throughout the pandemic we have followed all government Covid guidance and continue to do so.

"In line with the reintroduction of rules on wearing face coverings on all public transport, we urge all customers who aren't exempt to comply with this requirement and help to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus variant."

The current tram system, which has a line where services start and terminate in Hucknall, opened in 2004.
