The Arc Cinema in Hucknall are launching their very own movie podcast with the first one set to 'drop' next Friday (24 September).
The podcast will be hosted by the Cinema Manager Mark Gallagher and will regularly feature his colleagues Nick Archer and Zanda Sey. There will also be guest contributors as the podcast progresses.
Mr Gallagher spoke exclusively to Hucknall Nub News about his decision to start the podcast.
He said: "I listen to a lot of film podcasts myself and I want to market the cinema a bit better. I know that there must be Hucknall dwellers who like a movie podcast and perhaps they're looking for another one because they're only an hour long generally, so if you're really into your films an hour's just not enough.
"I thought it'd be really cool to do a local one for people who live in Hucknall; we can talk about film times. We do tend to pick the films that we think the people of Hucknall would prefer. It'd be good to have a channel where customers can hear us as real people. We want to bring a human element to it so people can hear the people that work here and what their thoughts and views are."
The plan is for the podcast to feature trivia quizzes and reviews of old films as well as talk about the latest blockbusters set to hit the box office. Listener contributions will be actively encouraged and there will be advanced warning of films that will be reviewed, giving listeners a chance to watch the film the week before if they would like to be fully 'prepared' for the show.
Mr Gallagher added: "It's really exciting. I'm going to make it really fun. I want a laid back vibe, loads of laughing, loads of jokes; I'm dead excited."
"We're hoping to record the first episode next Wednesday, so we're all going to watch The Many Saints of Newark which comes out next Wednesday, which is a movie prequal of The Sopranos TV show. We're going to review that and then the following week it'll be James Bond, that should take up most of the podcast I would have thought."
Anyone wishing to engage with the podcast can do so via Twitter, Facebook or by emailing [email protected].
