There was a huge turnout in Hucknall for the Remembrance Sunday parade and service yesterday (Sunday 13 November) as the town remembered those who died in the two world wars and other military conflicts.
The parade which hadn't taken place for three years due to Covid and then complications surrounding insurance made a welcome return.
Following this, residents gathered at the cenotaph at Titchfield Park where wreaths were laid, and a two-minute silence was observed.
Kevin, the Hucknall Royal British Legion Branch Chairman, who was the Standard-bearer at yesterday's event, was really pleased with how the act of remembrance unfolded.
Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News, he said: "It was excellent. It was a well-turned-out parade. Everybody said how good it was, I think it was one of the best ones, everything went perfect, no hitches, everything fell into place.
"Because we've been planning it since July, when it all goes into place it's a relief because you're all tense. When we finally finished and everyone's happy because we've brought it back to Hucknall it makes you proud. It means a lot."
"I think it brings it home to everybody even the young ones. You've got little children from the Scouts, the cubs it's nice to see them taking part in what we've put on. It can be very emotional.
"Now we've got the full parade again it's what Hucknall wanted. Yes, it was more poignant. It was just so special because everybody you spoke to in Hucknall wanted it back."
