A mechanical issue with the pump system led to Hucknall Leisure Centre's swimming pool being closed for a short period of time this morning (Tuesday 8 March).

The Leisure Centre posted on its Facebook page: "Due to technical difficulties we have to close the swimming pool for now (Tuesday 8th). This means all public swimming this morning is cancelled. We will keep everyone updated for later swims and swimming lessons.

"We apologise for the inconvenience this causes."

However, it didn't take long for the issue to be fixed and the pool reopened this afternoon.

Lorenzo Clark, Everyone Active's contract manager, said: "The pool was closed temporarily this morning due to a minor mechanical issue with the pool pump system.

"The situation was quickly resolved, and we were pleased to be back open this afternoon."

The Leisure Centre has recently undergone a transformation thanks to investment from Ashfield District Council, with a new reception area, fitness suite and changing village all being built within the last nine months.

The final improvement will be a second swimming pool which is due to be completed by next Spring.
