Nottinghamshire Police have again asked England fans to keep up the good work after no football related arrests were made in Nottingham over the weekend.

Saturday's convincing win over Ukraine saw England head into the semi-final of Euro 2020 and police have thanked fans for their continued support.

Fans were seen celebrating in Old Market Square after the match and police have praised the public for their cooperation with officers in the city.

This evening will see the The Three Lions face Denmark and England supporters across the city and county will be hoping to see Gareth Southgate's men make the final.

Assistant Chief Constable Steve Cooper has asked for fans to continue to respect their local area and to be responsible for their actions.

He has also encouraged anyone heading to bars and pubs across the county, without a booking, to watch the match at home in order to avoid disappointment.

He said: "Another brilliant result for England saw fans celebrating across the city and county in a largely responsible way and I was really pleased that there were no issues in the city centre.

"I'd like to thank fans for their continued compliance as officers work to ensure that supporters can enjoy themselves safely.

"We know that the vast majority of bars and pubs are taking bookings in advance of the match and I would urge anyone who has not got a confirmed seat at a venue to stay at home and watch the game.

"If you have made a booking, please ensure that you do turn up and support our licenced premises.

"We expect the same levels of respect and consideration from the public, both for the local area and for other fans who may not be supporting England.

"As with previous matches, we are aware of the large number of people that will [sic] gathering at pubs and bars in the city and county and we are well-versed at policing these types of events.

"Once again, extra officers [sic] in place across Nottinghamshire to quickly respond to any incident where they arise and ensure that the public can enjoy the events.

"We are here to protect safety and allow fans to enjoy the experience and so far, we have been really happy with how the matches have gone ahead.

"If anyone sees something suspicious or has concerns on the night, please do report them to an officer on patrol or call 101."

ACC Cooper has also urged the public to remember the dangers of Covid-19 when socialising with others.

He added: "While it is fantastic that people are able to share these historic sporting moments with one another, it is really important to consider the potential for Covid to spread when in close proximity with people.

"We know a lot of people are out enjoying themselves, and so they should, but having a vaccine does not mean you cannot get the virus or pass it on to others who may not yet be vaccinated themselves.

"Please be mindful while out in bars and pubs."
