Papplewick Pumping Station has been added to Historic England's at Risk Register for 2022.
According to their website, the Register, which was published last week, 'gives an annual snapshot of the critical health of England's most valued historic places and those most at risk of being lost as a result of neglect, decay or inappropriate development.'
In the last year, 175 historic buildings and sites have been added to the Register due to their 'deteriorating condition.'
However, during the same period 233 sites have been saved.
The porch of the Pumping Station which is a Grade II listed building has been highlighted as being in poor condition.
It has been placed in priority category A which is described as: "Immediate risk of further rapid deterioration or loss of fabric; no solution agreed."
Within the Register, it says of the structure which was built in 1881: "The timber porch is sited on the east elevation and is approached via balustraded steps. Mansard roof carried on balusters. Renovated in 2004. Significant scarf joints evident to principle posts. Several structural timbers have suffered significant deterioration with some having suffered a considerable loss of section. Modern paint finishes are trapping moisture. Rainwater goods are failing and allowing water to penetrate the structure."
It has been announced that a Historic England Development grant was awarded in Spring 2022 meaning there is some money available to help fund some of the reparations needed.
