Amended plans proposed to Ashfield District Council by Mr Brough.

An application for a goal storage area to be built on Kenbrook Road Playing Field has been accepted by Ashfield District Council.

The proposal was tabled by Jamie Brough, owner of Sports Gateway who have a 12-month management agreement in place with the Council at the site.

There has been much controversy over the land recently, with Hucknall Sports announcing last month that their football clubs would no longer play their matches on the pitches following the Council's decision to allow Sports Gateway to manage the land. This shocked many members of the local community because the land had been Hucknall Sports' home for 44 years.

Mr Brough's original planning application included a perimeter fence, 3G pitch and modular classroom building.

However, after this was met strong objections from several residents, he amended his proposal, so that it only involved the goal storage area.

The Council gave their decision last Wednesday (25 August), over three months after the initial proposal was submitted, demonstrating just how long the whole situation has rumbled on for.
