The Hucknall Neighbourhood Policing Team have been cracking down on untaxed vehicles in the town.

Yesterday (Tuesday 11 January), a vehicle was seized from Leadale Avenue, just off Papplewick Lane, for having no tax.

A post on Ashfield Police's Facebook page read: "Earlier today an officer from the HUCKNALL NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICING TEAM attended LEADALE AVENUE, HUCKNALL, after a call was received from a member of public regarding a vehicle that was parked blocking the pavement.

"On the officers [sic] arrival the vehicle was causing an obstruction and after checks the vehicle was seized for having no tax."

Pictures that accompanied the post showed the offending vehicle, a silver Volkswagen Polo, on the back of a lorry being driven away from the scene after the seizure of the vehicle.

This incident followed a similar event in Hucknall on Saturday night (8 January) when officers came across a vehicle on Lovesey Avenue, just off Watnall Road, that had no tax or insurance. The vehicle was subsequently seized by police.

According to Autocar, in November last year, UK Government figures revealed one in 50 cars are untaxed.
