A proclamation of the accession of His Majesty King Charles III will take place at County Hall, the headquarters of Nottinghamshire County Council in West Bridgford at 1pm on Sunday (11 September).

Sir John Peace, the Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, will lead the tributes to Queen Elizabeth II and the proclamation of the King will be delivered by the High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, Paul Southby.

The proclamation confirms, by name, the identity of the new sovereign to the throne and normally takes place within two days of the announcement of the Monarch's death.

A number of invited guests and special dignitaries will be in attendance at the ceremony, which will take place on the banks of the River Trent close to the flagpoles.

Members of the public are welcome to attend from 12.15pm.

Flags at County Hall, which are currently flying at half-mast, will be raised to full mast for the two days of national and local proclamations.

The flags will then return to half-mast and are expected to remain so until 8am the day after the funeral.

The first proclamation will be made at St James' Palace in London tomorrow morning (Saturday 10 September) before then being 'cascaded' throughout the UK.
