Big improvements are to be made to a number of road surfaces in Hucknall next month it has been announced.

The work will be carried out on Keats Drive, Shelley Close, Tennyson Court and Totnes Close, all of which are just off Babbacombe Way.

This news has been welcomed by Councillor Dave Shaw and local residents.

Councillor Shaw, who represents Hucknall West for the Ashfield Independents on Nottinghamshire County Council has been campaigning to sort these roads out for years.

He included them in his Highway's Priorities as soon as he was elected to County Hall and has met with Highway's bosses to discuss the roads- some of which currently have no road surface at all.

Councillor Shaw said: "Fixing Hucknall's broken roads and pavements is my number one priority. I am pleased that following my pressure - these roads will finally be resurfaced. I have arranged for a letter to (be) sent to residents with the exact date of resurfacing. This is so you can move your cars. I have been out to speak to residents on all four roads and they are delighted.

"Your local Ashfield Independent team and I will continue to fight to fix our broken roads and pavements and fight to make them safer. Road by road, pavement by pavement we will continue to work all year round to make improvements to Hucknall. This is after years of under-investment".
