The tickets for a quiz night fundraiser organised by a Hucknall residents' group have sold out.

In total, 150 tickets for the event, organised by Hucknall Against Whyburn Farm Development group, which takes place tonight (Friday 18 March), were sold at five pounds each.

The money raised from ticket sales plus raffle tickets sales, which will be available to buy during the evening, will go towards the group's fight fund.

Speaking to Hucknall Nub News, Jemma Chambers, who leads the group said: "The fight fund is there to help what is effectively a bunch of volunteers who want to do the right thing but we don't necessarily always have the right skills so we might need to employ people like traffic consultants, planning consultants. It might even get to the point where we need lawyers, and we know that they're not cheap.

"In addition to that it's for materials. Every day I speak to people who don't know about what's happening so it's our duty to raise awareness not just in Hucknall but also about what's happening in other areas of Ashfield because they are building on greenbelt in a lot of the other areas and people don't know so it's our responsibility to help them realise."

Mrs Chambers is incredibly pleased with the support that the people of the town continue to show not only for her group but for protecting the greenbelt land from being built on.

She said: "At five pounds a ticket it's not cheap but people are so concerned about what's happening and they want to do whatever they can to help. Planning is very complex and it's difficult to know what to do so I think this is a great way for people to support us without having to lift the lid and read reams and reams of paper.

"It's a really great way to support us and I'm really thankful that they've done that but I'm not surprised. The people of Hucknall have shown that they can come together when they need to, and this is just an example of that.

"We've had some really generous support from local businesses as well, they've been absolutely wonderful which again shows how people come together.

"We're going to have some music playing, some fun questions, some interesting questions and I'm sure by the end of the night we're going to have some worthy winners."

Lincoln Green Brewery based on Wigwam Lane, has sponsored the prize as they are vehemently against the development. Thus, the winning quiz team will walk away from the evening with five cases of their ale.
