Two Bellway site managers who are building homes in and around Hucknall have both won a prestigious industry award.

Dave Pringle and Gary Archer have been honoured with a Quality Award in the National House Building Council's (NHBC) 2022 Pride in the Job competition.

Dave, site manager at Abbey Fields Grange, just off Nottingham Road in Hucknall, and Gary, who is in charge at Sherwood Gate in Linby, are among an elite group of 443 site managers from across the country to be selected for the award out of a field of more than 8,000 candidates.

Following their latest achievement, both Gary and Dave have now won a Quality Award for seven years running.

Dave, 54, who lives in Nottingham, said: "Winning a Pride in the Job award is all down to consistency, and that starts at the very basic level. We have to make sure that we are picking the right people who want to do the right things and have a genuine desire to do their very best at all times and adhere to the highest standards that are expected of us all.

"In order to be recognised by the NHBC, everybody has to chip in and do their bit, from the groundwork team and cleaners keeping the site tidy right up to the management level, ensuring that everyone is all buying into the same core principles of craftsmanship and attention to detail.

"It is a great feeling to have been recognised for a seventh consecutive year, and to know that myself and my team are doing a good job, helping to deliver the highest quality homes for our customers in Hucknall."

Gary, 55, who lives in Nottingham, said: "It is always a great feeling to be recognised by the NHBC, and to see that those who set the standards can identify those who have genuine pride in what they do.

"I love winning awards, but it wouldn't be possible to win them without the support of my team on site, who under my guidance go to great lengths to uphold the very highest standards.

"I have worked for Bellway for eight years now having worked for other housebuilders in the past, and the level of customer care that we provide here for our buyers here at Sherwood Gate is second to none. This is a happy development where everybody is well aware of their roles and responsibilities, and I am looking forward to continuing to oversee work here as we head into the next stages of construction."

Gary and Dave will now go forward to the next stage of the competition in a bid to win a Seal of Excellence, which is awarded to just a handful of site managers in each region. The results will be announced later this year.

Lee Wilkinson, Construction Director at Bellway East Midlands, said: "For our site managers, winning an NHBC award in any year is rewarding, but this year has been a special achievement in such challenging circumstances, ensuring our building sites are kept to the highest standards we set ourselves at Bellway, and keeping our customers and residents happy with the work we are doing across those sites.

"Both Gary and Dave have consistently demonstrated their excellence in delivering new homes to our customers over the past 12 months and Bellway is extremely proud of and grateful for their efforts, resulting in the Quality Award they have been deservingly given by the NHBC. We would like to wish Gary and Dave all the very best for the next stage of the NHBC awards this year, as they progress to the Seal of Excellence phase of judging."
