Updated: Vehicle fire on the M1 causes disruption for Hucknall commuters

All lanes have now reopened.

Hucknall drivers are being warned of disruption to their journeys this morning on the M1 motorway following a vehicle fire.

The incident occurred on the northbound carriage between Junctions 26 and 27 earlier this morning.

As a result, two lanes are currently closed, causing congestion. Firefighters are on the scene.

A tweet from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue service, said: "08:54hrs Fire crews from #Alfreton & #Longeaton are in attendance at a vehicle fire between Junctions 26&27 Northbound M1. Lanes 1&2 are currently closed whilst our crews deal with this incident. We will keep you updated."

According to the website motorwaycameras.co.uk, normal traffic conditions are expected between 12:30pm and 12:45pm.

Drivers are being advised to allow more time to complete their journeys if they are intending to travel on the part of the motorway affected by this incident.
