Ashfield District Council has appointed a consultant to help draw up its bid of up to £20 million for the Levelling Up Fund in Hucknall.
And further details have been provided on what the bid will entail, with the council to focus on transport connectivity and town centre regeneration across up to three separate projects.

Up-and-coming athletes in Hucknall and across the rest of Ashfield are being given the chance to become 'Sporting Champions' and gain much-needed support as part of a sports talent development scheme.
Everyone Active's Sporting Champions initiative, now heading into its sixth year, has helped thousands of athletes to achieve their sporting potential by providing free access to Everyone Active's 200-plus leisure facilities across the country. This includes Hucknall Leisure Centre on Linby Road.

A Hucknall woman has raised over £700 for The Brain Tumour Charity by completing a 21 mile swim.
Livvy Shelton, who broke the challenge up over ten days and swam each mile at Hucknall Leisure Centre, finished it on Saturday afternoon (19 March) with friends and family turning out to cheer her on over the last two miles.

A Hucknall quiz night that took place on Friday evening (18 March), raised over £1000 for the fight fund of a campaign group.
Organised by the Hucknall Against Whyburn Farm Development (HAWFD) group, the proceeds from the event held at The John Godber Centre on Ogle Street, will be used for promotional literature, and will cover the costs of hiring any professional advice such as legal, that might be needed further down the line.

A Hucknall man is one of two drivers that are due to be sentenced after an illegal street race resulted in a bystander having to have his leg amputated.
Ashley Walton, of Lime Tree Road, Hucknall, was found guilty of driving without due care and attention.

Firefighters from Hucknall Fire Station were one of several crews to attend the scene of a fatal house fire in nearby Kirkby-in-Ashfield on Saturday (19 March).
The fire service received a call in the early hours to a house on fire on Greenholme Close, Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
