The second annual Food Waste Action Week takes place this week (W/C Monday 7 March), with Nottinghamshire County Council and its partner Veolia joining the efforts to reduce waste.

Food Waste Action Week aims to raise people's awareness of the huge impact of household food waste on climate change and share practical advice, food savvy behaviours and tips on how to easily reduce the amount of food waste in our homes.

There was a big turnout at The Arc Cinema in Hucknall last night (Friday 4 March) as the venue held its Batman fan event.

The cinema chose to mark the release of the film, 'The Batman' directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson, by hiring the batmobile that was used in the 1989 Tim Burton version of the franchise and parking it outside the cinema.

Donations for people fleeing war-torn Ukraine, collected by a range of Hucknall businesses, were delivered to the drop-off point in Loughborough yesterday (Sunday 6 March).

A convoy of around 18 vehicles departed the town at 11:30 yesterday morning to transport the range of items such as blankets, toiletries, first aid kits, tinned food, bedding and children's toys, generously donated by the people of Hucknall.

A Hucknall businessman along with his close friends, including Nottingham Forest footballer Joe Worrall, have set up a campaign to collect donations of, or money towards, buying 1000 sleeping bags for Ukrainian refugees.

Ben Marshall has set up 'Sleep1000' to help people fleeing Ukraine following the Russian invasion of the country just under two weeks ago.

Councillors have approved a change to the county council's recruitment procedure to prevent former councillors being hired into paid roles until 12 months have passed since they left office.

It follows former Hucknall West Councillor Phil Rostance (Con) being hired into the position of Executive Officer to the Senior Leadership Team (Ruling Group) in November last year.
