Hucknall rail passengers may face disruption to their travel plans due to proposed strike action by members of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT).

The strike is currently due to take place on Friday 3 December and Saturday 4 December and has caused East Midlands Railway (EMR) to announce that it will operate a reduced service on those dates.

Nottinghamshire County Council has admitted to breaching the Local Government Act when hiring a former councillor into a prominent officer role before it was legally allowed to do so.

The council appointed former county councillor Phil Rostance (Con) into the position of Executive Officer to the Senior Leadership Team (Ruling Group) at the start of November 2021.

Some North Nottinghamshire councillors have called for a guarantee two major rail projects will receive Government investment following "uncertainty" over the Integrated Rail Plan.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps unveiled the plan to the Commons last week, outlining scaled back and altered proposals to high-speed and regional rail travel in England.
