Hucknall Town's club captain believes that the home support at Watnall Road will be key in their crucial final league match of the season.
The Yellows head into the last game of their Uhlsport United Counties Division One league campaign against Kirby Muxloe today (23 April), knowing a win will seal their place in the play-offs. However, failure to win coupled with a win for sixth placed Aylestone Park would see Hucknall narrowly miss out.
Ahead of the crunch match, Aaron Short believes playing in front of a raucous home crowd will be vital in helping Hucknall achieve a play-off place.
Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News, he said: "The fans are great, they'll stop and chat to you after, win or lose, they're brilliant.
"The fan base at Hucknall we get 200 at home every week come rain or come shine, you can't fault that. It's one of them that especially when they're banging on the stand behind the goal it always helps, it's a twelfth man so hopefully next week we can get the three points, get into the play-offs and then regroup.
"It's up to us now. It's always disappointing coming off the back of a loss, we'll see, if we get three points and try and kick on in the play-offs if we can.
However, Hucknall's opponents on the final day, have had a strong finish to the season which has seen them climb into a very respectable eighth in the league and Short knows they shouldn't be underestimated.
"We only drew with them at their place, they're no mugs and they'll be looking to make an upset for us."
The match kicks off at 3pm with tickets priced at £5 for adults, £4 concessions and £1 for children aged between six and 16. For further information about the game see here.
