Thousands of people descended upon the town centre for Hucknall's Christmas Festival 2021 last night (Wednesday 1 December).

The festival saw the town's Christmas lights switched on by the Chairman of Ashfield District Council, Councillor Arnie Hankin.

Firefighters carrying out their final inspections after extinguishing a house fire in Bulwell last month were amazed to discover a cat had survived the blaze.

Hucknall firefighters were one of six crews who attended the scene on the afternoon of Saturday 20 November.

Funding to support budding Olympians, Paralympians and Special Olympians from Hucknall and across the whole of the county of Nottinghamshire, is available from today (Tuesday 30 November).

The financial support is designed to help athletes overcome potential financial hurdles such as training and equipment costs.

Ashfield District Council could be presented with two petitions totalling more than 9,000 signatures and a cross-party motion, all calling for its draft local plan to be scrapped.
