Popular Hucknall event venue the John Godber Centre has been refurbished partly thanks to funding from the County Council.

The Centre, on Ogle Street, is in its 114th year of existence and has been a beneficiary of Nottinghamshire County Council's Local Improvement Scheme (LIS) in which is has received £7,673. This amount has been match-funded with money raised by the St Mary Magdalene Church Hucknall Jumblers and St Mary's Trading Company.

A Toucan Crossing will be installed in Hucknall to provide a safer crossing point for pedestrians and cyclists on one of the busiest roads in the town.

The crossing will be on Watnall Road, to the east of its junction with the A611 Hucknall Bypass. It will incorporate a controlled area indicated by zig-zag markings along the approaches to the crossing within which parking and loading by vehicles will be prohibited at all times. A 'toucan' crossing is a type of pedestrian crossing that also allows bicycles to be ridden across. Since "two can" cross together.

A crew from Hucknall Fire Station were one of four that attended a minor road traffic collision in Kirkby in Ashfield this morning.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to an incident this morning at 10:06am on High Crescent, Kirkby-in-Ashfield. Crews from Hucknall, Ashfield, Eastwood and Highfields Fire Station attended.
