A Hucknall based clothing business are relaunching this weekend.

LN Style, run by friends Laura Foster and Nina Graham are organising a pop-up shop this weekend. The shop will be in Long Eaton, outside Long Eaton Cycles on Tamworth Road. It will be open on Saturday 5th June from 10am until 2pm.

A Hucknall based bowls club held an open day for people to try their hand at the sport on Bank Holiday Monday.

Titchfield Park Bowls Club on Park Drive, which was established in 1935, hosted the event to encourage more people to take up the sport. It formed part of Bowls England's national campaign called Bowls Big Weekend, an initiative that affiliated clubs across the country signed up to in order to help boost the sport's popularity.

A Hucknall based businessman has launched an app that allows people to select and order takeaways from an array of local eateries in the town.

Steve Hodgkinson founded Hucknall Eats four weeks ago with the aim of helping encourage people to buy their takeaways from local businesses. At present, they have 24 local establishments signed up.

Over 5000 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 at Hucknall's vaccination centre since it first opened in March.

The centre which is based at Rolls Royce Leisure Centre is run by brothers Ammar, Qammar and Adnan Nazir, as well as Ammar's wife Ruckhsana .

The leader of Ashfield District Council, Jason Zadrozny, has tabled proposals to split the town of Hucknall across two Parliamentary constituencies.

The proposals will be discussed at the latest Ashfield District Council meeting which takes place tonight, Thursday 29th July.

Hucknall will host its very own food and drink festival next month on the pedestrianised part of the High Street.

The festival is due to take place on Sunday 22nd August and will mark the first time in Hucknall's history that it has hosted such an event.

An initiative launched by the Ashfield Policing team to tackle the rise in young people's involvement in criminal activity, has seen major success stories in Hucknall.

The 'Youth Early Intervention Scheme' sees any young person involved in crimes, repeated anti-social behaviour or missing episodes, receive regular visits from the local Policing Team (NPT) to try to encourage them away from criminality.

In November 1996 there was a fantastic weekend for people with an interest in the town. It was called 'Hucknall 2020 vision: our future' which stretched from Friday to Sunday. Many ideas were thrown around concerning what could be done for the benefit of the community. I am sure most of those who attended will remember it as a very exhausting but exhilarating weekend. Afterwards I wondered if there was anything I could do as an individual to benefit local people.

For five years I had been organising history type events which people seemed to enjoy, and the thought of a history-based newsletter came into my mind. I thought OK - if this is going to happen what should it be called? Names were bandied about – Heritage Times, Hucknall Herald, and others, but once 'Hucknall Torkard Times' came into the frame nothing else seemed to have the correct vibes. It also described what I intended each issue to contain, which were researched pieces by myself or other local historians, written items by other people such as memories of the town and folk they knew, questions, queries, help wanted, and odd items of interest.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) have received government support to buy smoke curtains and other equipment designed specifically for tackling fires in high-rise buildings.

The curtains, which are designed to hold back smoke while people escape, will be introduced on Sunday 1 August once the Service has completed the necessary training. Smoke curtains would be particularly useful in high-rise buildings due to the potentially complex nature of these rescues.

A motorist was caught exceeding the speed limit by nearly 20mph yesterday by the Hucknall Beat Team.

The officers were out and about the town conducting a Fatal 4 OP. This consists of looking for motorists who are: speeding; driving whilst using their mobile phone; not wearing their seatbelts; or driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs.
