Man charged following attempted cash machine theft in Hucknall

A man has been charged following a reported attempt to break into a cash machine on Hucknall High Street last week .

Police were called shortly before 5am on Tuesday 14 September to the pedestrianised part of the High Street, outside the barbers shop The Shak, after an alarm attached to the cash machine was triggered. Nothing was taken from the machine.

The incident caused much shock and nervousness among the residents of Hucknall , many of whom were horrified to hear of what had happened.

Stuart Kendal, of Rathlyn Avenue, Blackpool, is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court today (21 September 2021) charged with burglary with intent to steal.

Detective Sergeant Matthew Dumbrell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Officers have been working hard on this investigation and a man has now been charged in connection with the incident.

"Our investigation is ongoing and we would continue to urge any potential witnesses to come forward who may have been in the western end of Hucknall High Street in the early hours of this morning – particularly anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the area."

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident 76 of 14 September 2021.
