Second Hucknall Food and Drink Festival attracts big turnout despite cold temperatures

By Tom Surgay 25th Nov 2021

Hucknall's second ever food and drink festival, held yesterday (Sunday 21 November) saw a good turnout despite a notable dip in temperature in comparison to previous days.

The event came three months after the town hosted its inaugural food and drink festival which was hugely successful as over 4000 people attended.

Yesterday's festival boasted more stalls with 26 in total, as new traders such as Blondie Brownie, Chillibobs, Spicee, RD Catering and Heart of Sicily joined returning traders such as B'Reyt Dough and Lincoln Green Brewing Company.

Anthony Hughes, founder of Lincoln Green who partnered with Ashfield District Council and Discover Ashfield to put the event on, spoke exclusively to Hucknall Nub News.

He said: "You always think it's going to be busier in summer because the weather's lovely and with it being winter you kind of think people tend to stay at home but it's been absolutely fantastic it's been as busy as it was last time.

"It's a mixture of some people that came last time but wanted to come again because it was such a huge success but then we've also got new traders that have come as well so it's giving that freshness, it's gone really well."

Councillor Jim Blagden, who represents Hucknall Central said: "It's great to see families young and old return to our Town Centre. We are looking to increase events in 2022 – including a Farmer's Market and a Plant Market. It is critical as we recover from COVID – that we support our town centres and we will continue as a Council to do everything we can.

"In 2022, our events will be bigger and better but this has been a great start."
