Byron's Rest wins Nottingham Cider Pub of the Year with Beer Shack second as Hucknall establishments dominate competition
Hucknall establishments occupied the first two positions in this year's Nottingham CAMRA Branch Cider Pub of the Year competition.
Byron's Rest, on Baker Street, scooped first place much to the delight of owner Richard Darrington who will be speaking to Hucknall Nub News in detail about the success next week.
The runner-up was Beer Shack on Derbyshire Lane who repeated the same feat as last year when they also finished second.
Last year's winner Partizan Tavern, in Sneinton, was highly commended as was the Round RobInn in East Leake.
The judging for the 2023 edition took place throughout February. The panel visited ten pubs across the Branch area which had been nominated by their customers, before selecting a winner and runner-up.
Nottingham CAMRA Cider Officer Heather Stretton said: "The standard of the competition was extremely high, with many good cider pubs nominated. Congratulations to all of these pubs for helping to promote real cider and perry so successfully, and particularly to the Byron's Rest as our winner. I'm delighted that we have so many good cider pubs in our Branch Area."
